Font info:

  • The original look and feel of Vera fonts depend on hight of the glyph:
    Ymax = 1901 [1900]
    Ymin = -483 [-426]
    DejaVu fonts with a wider range of characters is higher.
    Czcionka Wanda (based on DejaVu fonts) corrected the hight but lost the look of some character accents.
  • Width problem:
    - Czcionka Wandzia (based on Vera fonts) have a hdmx table. This table is supposed to contain precomputed widths for certain (common) pixel sizes. FontForge does not suport hdmx table. Font Tools ttx do.
    - Czcionka Wanda have no hdmx table.
  • Ligature width problem:
    - Czcionka Wandzia and Wandzia have no GSUB table.
    This table is supposed to set a ligature fonts. FontForge adds this table, but for now ligatures work badly.
    For example: fi and o look like fb
    Font Tools ttx -x "GSUB" *.ttf cut down this table.
